PAGE FOCUSES ON LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES AT CAPITOL

PAGE Legislative Priorities are created and approved by members every year. While the priorities reflect areas of PAGE advocacy focus during the legislative session for which they are generated, PAGE also strongly supports and continuously advocates for policies benefiting educators, students, and public education, including raising educator salaries and promoting strong retirement and healthcare benefits for Georgia educators.

PAGE is honored to be a Gold Level Sponsor of Teach in the Peach, a newly launched initiative aimed at making Georgia the #1 state for teachers to teach. This investment in educators and strengthening the profession supports the PAGE effort to attract, retain, and empower outstanding teachers throughout the state.

The official GaDOE teacher recruitment website, Teach in the Peach, aims to attract, recognize, and retain excellent Georgia educators  and was created with input from more than 250 current and aspiring teachers. The site provides valuable resources, including:

  • Insights into the benefits of teaching in Georgia

  • Information about personalized certification pathways

  • An interactive, statewide job map

  • A career fit quiz for individuals seeking their best path in education

PAGE STAR

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s highest-achieving high school seniors and the teachers most instrumental in their academic development. 

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

PAGE professional learning is built upon the certainties that all students can learn, and all teachers are leaders in their classrooms. Our programs prepare educators to create rigorous, engaging lessons attainable by each student.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The PAGE Foundation is dedicated to promoting excellence in Georgia’s public schools and offers scholarships to enhance the teaching profession. These scholarships assist educators, support personnel, and high school and college students.

Riverwatch is PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades State Champions

Congratulations to Riverwatch Middle School! Representing Forsyth County Schools, this outstanding team triumphed over fierce competition to claim the coveted PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades State Championship trophy and medals. PAGE also celebrates the achievement of the state runner-up, Howard Middle School from Atlanta Public Schools. Shoutout to the other top finishers: Third Place: Beacon Hill Middle School (City of Decatur Schools); Fourth Place: River Trail Middle School (Fulton County Schools); Fifth Place: Richards Middle School (Muscogee County School District); Sixth Place: North Gwinnett Middle School (Gwinnett County Public Schools); Seventh Place: Stallings Island Middle School (Columbia County School District); and Eighth Place: Lost Mountain Middle School (Cobb County School District).

Academic achievement shimmered at this year's PAGE State Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) banquet! Omer Mustafa Inan, second from right, a senior at Cobb County's George Walton High School, is the 2024 PAGE State STAR Student. Tamara Hollingsworth, second from left, an English Teacher at Walton, is the PAGE State STAR Teacher. With them are Vickie Hammond, left, a member of the PAGE Board of Directors, and PAGE Executive Director Craig Harper.  This year, the PAGE STAR Student program recognized more than 600 students from throughout Georgia. Twenty-six region winners competed for state STAR honors.

Ready, Set, READ!

READBowl is a free, national reading competition that encourages students from PreK through 12th grade to read daily in a fun and competitive environment. The competition runs from January 13 to February 7, 2025, and concludes with the “World Champions of Reading” being crowned on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9.

 

Georgia’s elementary, middle, and high school READBowl Champions will also be recognized at the Georgia State Capitol on February 25, 2025, with honors presented by Gov. Brian Kemp, Georgia Reads Coach Malcolm Mitchell, and other state leaders.
